Hancock Park

Hancock Park is a wealthy, historic, urban community in the eastern portion of the Rancho La Brea area in Los Angeles, California, between Van Ness and La Brea Avenues, and Melrose Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard. Developed by the Hancock Family in the 1920s, and known for its location near the Miracle Mile and La Brea Tar Pits, the George C. Page Museum of La Brea Discoveries, Wilshire Country Club, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Hancock Park is a popular destination.

Homes were designed by Paul Williams, A. C. Chisholm and John Austin resulting in many single family houses with large lawns and few fences. Hancock Park residents are very involved in protecting their community and provide community guidelines through the Hancock Park Homeowners Association. The well-preserved tree-lined streets, classic Tudor, English, Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean, Monterey, and American Colonial Revival architecture and location have made Hancock Park a highly desired area in Southern California. Many well-recognized performers and entertainers have lived in Hancock Park, such as Howard Hughes, Mae West, and Nat King Cole.
