The Eastern seaboard just faced an incredible storm. While wind and erosion were issues, the lasting legacy and real expense is related to flooding. Every state has flooding at some time or another, but Congress has yet to extend the National Flood Insurance Program, which expires on Sept. 30. If there’s no program, buyers with contingency letters can’t get insurance. They can’t get a mortgage. They can’t close on the sale of a home. Call your member of Congress and tell them that we need the NFIP extended now.
